New Poll: 81% of Kentucky Voters Support Term Limits on Congress
LOUISVILLE, KY – A new poll of registered voters in Kentucky reveals a massive groundswell of support for term limits on members of Congress. The poll, conducted by RMG Research between January 6-8, 2026, comes as the Kentucky State Legislature begins its 2026 regular session.
The data shows that 81% of Kentucky voters approve of placing term limits on Congress. This sentiment transcends party lines, including 84% of Republicans and 76% of Democrats.
“These results send a clear message to Kentucky,” says USTL President, Philip Blumel. “Kentucky voters are tired of career politicians in Washington and are looking to their state legislators to take the lead on this critical reform.”
Key findings from the executive summary include:
Broad Consensus: 80% of voters favor Kentucky calling for an amendment proposing convention specifically to enact congressional term limits.
Legislative Accountability: 71% of voters state they would be more likely to vote for a candidate for the state legislature who supports implementing these limits.
Demographic Strength: Support is particularly robust among older voters, with 81% of those aged 55-64 and 93% of those 65 and older in favor.

The intent of our government was to foster a system of rotating public service rather than the establishment of a permanent class of professional politicians.”
