U.S. Term Limits today launched a series of radio spots warning citizens that the Ohio legislature is considering legislation that would water down that state’s current term limits legislation.
The spots, set to air in major media markets, warns that legislation now before the state House would effectively neutralize current law by expanding the number of terms a member can serve.
Ohio law currently limits state senators to two successive terms and members of the state House to four successive four year terms.
The law was enacted in a 1992 referendum with a 68 percent approval margin. Ohio voters continue to support the current law, and it is in poor faith that these elected officials would try to over turn the will of the people.
We can’t allow wannabe career politicians to ‘back door’ a bill that would reverse the progress Ohioans have made in returning the Ohio legislature to a true citizen-public servant model.
Citizens need to be warned about what a handful of rogue legislators are up to the State of Ohio.
The spots began airing today in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Youngstown, Akron and Canton.
