Billboard Calls Out Rep. Miller-Meeks for Refusing to Sign Term Limits Pledge
Voters Overwhelmingly Support Term Limits for Congress
Coralville, IA – U.S. Term Limits announces that it sponsored billboards in Iowa’s 1st congressional district calling out U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks for refusing to sign the U.S. Term Limits pledge. The pledge acknowledges that a lawmaker will cosponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits (USTL) amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limits. The billboard, located at 2301 2nd St. in Coralville, Iowa, is meant to educate her constituents that Miller-Meeks refuses to support term limits on Congress.
House Joint Resolution 11 (HJR11) was introduced by Rep. Ralph Norman. Sixty-one members of the U.S. House have signed on to the proposal. It is believed that Speaker McCarthy will allow a vote on HJR11 soon. It is important that as many cosponsors as possible back this specific resolution so that it passes and can move to the states for ratification.
“Constituents, regardless of political affiliation, overwhelmingly support term limits for Congress,” said Nick Tomboulides, Executive Director of USTL. “Yet Rep. Miller-Meeks consistently refuses to sign the term limits pledge or to support term limits for Congress. The billboards are designed to educate her district on her stand regarding our proposed amendment.”
According to the latest nationwide poll on term limits conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, term limits enjoys wide bipartisan support. McLaughlin’s analysis states, “Support for term limits is broad and strong across all political, geographic and demographic groups. An overwhelming 82% of voters approve of a constitutional amendment that will place term limits on members of Congress.”
“Congressional term limits is not a Democratic or Republican issue, it is an American issue,” concluded Tomboulides. “In this polarized political environment, the need for congressional term limits is the one issue all Americans agree on except for Rep. Miller-Meeks.”
