U.S. Term Limits is proud to announce that Speaker Tim Moore, one of the leading candidates for Congress in North Carolina’s 14th District, has signed the U.S. Term Limits Pledge. By signing, Moore pledges that “as a member of Congress I will cosponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits Amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limit.”
If elected to Congress, Moore will join North Carolina U.S. representatives Greg Murphy, Dan Bishop, Richard Hudson and Chuck Edwards in having signed the pledge. Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd are also signers. The pledge is not a self-limit; it simply asks the signer to support a constitutional amendment that, if adopted, will apply term limits to all members of Congress.
“Tim Moore is a champion for congressional term limits and we applaud him for making this commitment,” said Nick Tomboulides, Executive Director of U.S. Term Limits. “As Speaker, Moore has presided over a body of citizen-legislators who serve part time for low pay and remain accountable to the folks back home. Unfortunately, Congress shares none of these features. By fighting for term limits, Moore will help make Congress work for the people again.”
As Speaker, Moore led the North Carolina House in passing HJR 151, a bipartisan resolution calling for term limits on Congress. The bill is currently pending before the State Senate. Moore has also received the Champion of Congressional Term Limits Award from U.S. Term Limits.
According to a 2023 survey from Pew Research, congressional term limits is the most popular and bipartisan policy idea in America with 87% support from the public. To view the list of current Congress members who have signed the pledge, click here.
