Bob Reid, Advocate for Congressional Term Limits, Remembered for His Dedication to Reform
Today we mourn the loss of Bob Reid, a passionate term limits activist and the founder of Term Limits for US Congress. Bob leaves behind a lasting legacy in the fight for accountability and fair representation. A former engineering scientist and manager for one of the top five U.S. aerospace corporations, Reid dedicated his post-retirement years to researching national issues and championing the need for congressional term limits.
Reid recognized that entrenched incumbency was a fundamental challenge to fair and representative government, and he decided to take action. His research revealed that long-standing congressional careers created a rigid hierarchy of power that stifled fresh perspectives and prevented meaningful change. Determined to make a difference, he founded Term Limits for US Congress, a grassroots activist movement dedicated to restoring accountability in Washington, D.C.
Through his leadership as Founder, Executive Director, and Chairman of the Advisory Board, Reid mobilized everyday Americans to challenge the status quo. His unwavering commitment to civic engagement inspired many to stand up and demand imperative reforms. He believed that change would not come from within Congress, but from the impassioned voices of the people- citizens who will no longer accept anything less than a truly representative government, who will no longer tolerate the modern-day aristocracy.
Reid’s legacy will continue to live on through the movement he built, the awareness he raised, and the countless individuals he motivated to advocate for the government that will truly echo the voices of the people. His dedication to government accountability and fair representation will continue to inspire those who fight for term limits and a more equitable democracy.
