Ashtabula County Republican Committee Passes Term Limits for Congress Resolution
Ashtabula, OH – On June 2, 2022, the Ashtabula County Republican Committee passed a resolution calling on the Ohio legislature to pass an Article V application to propose a Term Limits Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to limit the number of terms members of the U.S. House and Senate can serve.
Article V of the Constitution of the United States specifies how amendments may be proposed; either two-thirds of both Houses of Congress or on the application of two-thirds of the state legislatures requiring Congress to call a convention for the purpose of proposing the amendment. The resolution passed by the Ashtabula County Republican Committee endorses the effort to propose a Congressional Term Limits Amendment being spearheaded by the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, U.S. Term Limits.
Bernie Moreno, State Chair for U.S. Term Limits, commented on the resolution saying, “Politicians in Washington DC need to be reminded who is in charge of our Republic— the people. Serving the people is not intended to be a career or, worse, a way to build wealth. It’s about public service, new ideas, and a citizen led government. I want to thank the patriots in Ashtabula County for endorsing the Term Limits movement and look forward to having Ohio sign on to an Article V convention!”
According to recent national polling, “82% of voters of all parties continue to support term limits, including 87% of Republicans, 83% of Democrats, and 78% of Independents.”
