Brown Tapped as Chair of North Carolina for Congressional Term Limits
Raleigh, NC — Today, U.S. Term Limits (USTL) is pleased to announce that Leigh Brown has accepted the role as Chairperson for the North Carolina term limits for Congress effort.
Brown is an award-winning Realtor®, author and motivational speaker. She built a successful real estate career serving Carolina residents. Her public service roots extend deep in the community, including work as a board member for the local Habitat for Humanity, and the YMCA, as well as dozens of other professional affiliations and awards for service to her clients and her profession.
“We are extremely pleased that Leigh will be taking the leadership role in passing term limits in North Carolina. She will bring energy and enthusiasm to this important issue as we work to pass the resolution in the North Carolina state senate,” said Philip Blumel, President of USTL.
In 2019, Brown proudly signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge as a candidate to represent North Carolinians in Congress. “Far too many members of Congress seem to forget they are elected to represent their constituents, and instead act as if they’ve secured a job for life,” Brown says. “Well, our founders didn’t see it that way, our elected governance structure was designed to be one of citizen leadership. Community leaders serve – and then step aside for others to serve. A small group of individuals holds power in our current system, and they are using that power to reward themselves and their friends. Without term limits, Congress loses touch with the people they are elected to represent.”
Blumel added “80% of Americans support term limits on Congress, including huge majorities of Democrats, Republicans and Independents. This is a rare, truly nonpartisan issue with national appeal.”
According to a January 2020 poll conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, an overwhelming 73% of voters in North Carolina approve of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will place term limits on U.S. Senators and U.S. House Representatives. 79% of Republicans, 68% of Democrats, and 71% of independents in the poll support this important election reform.
“I know that the people of North Carolina want their voice heard in Washington. Term limits will give us that voice,” said Brown. Through her work with all members of U.S. Term Limits, Brown aims to help fix the problem.
