Representative Ron DeSantis and Senator Ted Cruz, two signers of the U.S. Term Limits pledge, committed this week to “drain the swamp” with term limits bills in both chambers of Congress.
In an Op-Ed they co-authored in the Washington Post, DeSantis and Cruz wrote that “passing term limits will demonstrate that Congress has actually heard the voice of the people.”
They explained how, even with Donald Trump’s election, the power brokers in Washington will not disappear quietly into the night. Entrenched insiders will continue grasping for more power and wealth unless citizens put a check on those ambitions through term limits.
DeSantis and Cruz call Washington “a graveyard of good intentions” where “corruption and collusion abound.” Both men have served in Congress for four years and seen enough to recognize a dysfunctional system.
They both intend to sponsor the U.S. Term Limits Amendment in the upcoming session, which begins January 3rd. The USTL amendment calls for a rock-solid term limit of three terms in the House (six years) and two terms in the Senate (12 years), reflecting the founding fathers’ vision for both chambers.
Help Rep. DeSantis and Sen. Cruz drain the swamp by encouraging your members of the House and Senate to be supportive of this legislation.
