Marco Rubio Signs U.S. Term Limits Pledge

Rubio Signing
Sen. Marco Rubio Signs the U.S. Term Limits Presidential Pledge

Presidential candidates are talking about term limits again, and that’s a great thing. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida just became the newest 2016 contender to sign the U.S. Term Limits Presidential Pledge.

In signing, Rubio commits to do all he can as president to facilitate passage of an amendment to place term limits on members of Congress. Rubio’s advocacy for citizen legislators predates his presidential run. He previously helped defend Florida’s term limits while serving as a state legislator, and even co-sponsored legislation in the U.S. Senate to term limit himself out of office.

Rubio’s first and only U.S. Senate term will conclude in 2016; he’s already announced he is not seeking re-election. If the U.S. Term Limits Amendment is enacted, all senators could serve only two terms (12 years) before making room for new and dynamic leaders.
