Does Michigan Have Governor Term Limits?

Michigan’s Constitution provides that no person may be elected governor more than twice. Serving more than half of a term after filling a vacancy counts as one election for term-limit purposes. Gretchen Whitmer is in her second and final term. She is ineligible to seek election as governor again in 2026. Last verified September 2026.
