New Poll: 75% of Rhode Island Voters Support Term Limits on Congress
Providence, RI – A new poll of registered voters in Rhode Island reveals a massive groundswell of support for term limits on members of Congress. The poll, conducted by RMG Research between January 6-12, 2026, comes as the Rhode Island State Legislature begins its 2026 regular session.
The data shows that 75% of Rhode Island voters approve of placing term limits on Congress. This sentiment transcends party lines, including 81% of Republicans, 71% of Democrats and 69% Independents.
“These results send a clear and unmistakable message to Rhode Island,” says USTL President, Philip Blumel. “Rhode Island voters are tired of career politicians in Washington and are looking to their state legislators to take the lead on this critical reform.”
Key findings from the executive summary include:
Broad Consensus: 71% of voters favor Rhode Island calling for an amendment proposing convention specifically to enact congressional term limits.
Legislative Accountability: 68% of voters state they would be more likely to vote for a candidate for the state legislature who supports implementing these limits.
Demographic Strength: Support is robust among younger older voters, with 72% of those aged 35-44 and 91% of those 65 and older in favor.
