Rep. Brandon Mitchell Receives Plaque for Signing U.S. Term Limits Pledge
Boise, ID — Idaho State Rep. Brandon Mitchell (district 4A) was honored for his support of the Term Limits Amendment on Congress. U.S. Term Limits presented him with a plaque during a ceremony at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise. The U.S. Term Limits Pledge, which Rep. Mitchell signed, pledges his commitment to sponsor, vote for, and defend the resolution that applies for an Article V convention for the sole purpose of enacting term limits on Congress.
U.S. Term Limits Legislative Director, Shanna Chamblee, praised Rep. Mitchell’s commitment to this cause, stating, “Representative Mitchell is a true believer in this reform to have the state legislatures use their authority under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose a Congressional Term Limits Amendment.”
Rep. Mitchell is not alone in his support for term limits. More than 10 fellow legislators have pledged their support for the amendment. Constituents in Idaho also strongly support term limits on Congress. A recent poll conducted by RMG Research showed that 85% of Republicans, 89% of Democrats, and 85% of Independents in Idaho approve of placing term limits on members of Congress.
If the amendment is proposed by Congress or by states at a national convention, it must be ratified by 38 of the 50 states in order to become an amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
