Rep. Joe Alfieri Receives Plaque for Signing U.S. Term Limits Pledge
Boise, ID — The efforts of Idaho State Representative Joe Alfieri (district 4A) in supporting a Term Limits Amendment on Congress have been recognized with an honor. The U.S. Term Limits Pledge requires Rep. Alfieri to pledge his support by cosponsoring, voting for, and defending the resolution that applies for an Article V convention, with the sole purpose of enforcing term limits on Congress.
Shanna Chamblee, the U.S. Term Limits Legislative Director, presented a plaque to Representative Alfieri at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise. In her presentation, Chamblee praised Alfieri’s dedication to the reform and his commitment to utilizing the authority vested in state legislatures under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose a Congressional Term Limits Amendment.
It is encouraging to note that more than 10 fellow legislators have pledged their support for the amendment, reflecting the strong desire of constituents for term limits on Congress. Furthermore, term limits enjoy strong bipartisan support in Idaho, with 85% of Republicans, 89% of Democrats, and 85% of Independents supporting the idea, according to a recent Idaho poll conducted by RMG Research.
The path to ratification requires ratification by 38 of the 50 states once it is proposed by Congress or by states at a national convention. Representative Alfieri’s efforts and the support of many other legislators indicate that the movement for term limits on Congress is gaining momentum in Idaho.
