U.S. Term Limits Applauds London City Council for Approving Term Limits
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the national, non-partisan movement to limit terms for elected officials, commended the London City Council for approving term limits for council members and mayor. Ordinance 2022-09, passed earlier in July, limits council members to four consecutive two-year terms and the mayor to two consecutive four-year terms.
USTL Central Regional Director and London resident, Aaron Dukette, commented on the move saying, “Voters know that term limits are a good idea at any level of government, ensuring more competitive elections and allowing for fresh ideas to surface. It’s great to see my city council take a strong step in that direction with this commonsense reform.”
USTL works on getting term limits put in place on Congress. Area state representatives Derek Lewis, Shane Baker, Josh Bray, and Tom O’Dell Smith have all signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge to support legislation in Frankfort allowing the states to term limit Congress.
