PHOENIX, AZ — U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the nation’s largest nonpartisan organization advocating for term limits on Congress, proudly announces the appointment of Former Arizona State Representative Alma Hernandez (D-Tucson) to its Board of Directors.
Rep. Hernandez brings a powerful track record of independent, community-focused leadership to the organization. A staunch advocate for government accountability, Hernandez recently made headlines for her critical bipartisan crossover vote supporting House Concurrent Resolution 2043, which successfully passed the Arizona legislature to apply for a national convention to establish congressional term limits.

Congressional term limits are supported by over 80% of Americans—regardless of party lines—and having a principled, independent-minded leader like Alma on our board will be instrumental as we push across the finish line nationwide.”
First elected in 2018 as the youngest woman in the Arizona House, Hernandez is herself bound by Arizona’s legislative term limits. She has long championed structural governance reforms, public health initiatives, and civil rights protection.
“I have always believed that elected office is a structured window of public service, not a lifetime career,” said Rep. Hernandez. “The American people are exhausted by backroom political entrenchment in Washington. Joining the U.S. Term Limits board allows me to continue fighting for a government that is dynamic, responsive, and truly reflective of the communities it serves. I look forward to working across the aisle nationally just as I have in Arizona.”
Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona. She is currently running for the Arizona State Senate in Legislative District 20.
